Agencies to Edibles Makers: Stop Mimicking Non-drug Packaging

Imagine if you went to the grocery store and saw a box of cereal that looked just like your favorite brand, but instead of whole grains and vitamins, it contained Delta-8 THC infused edibles. That’s the situation agencies are addressing as they tell edibles makers to stop packaging their products to mimic non-drug brands. In a joint effort, the Federal Trade Commission and the Food and Drug Administration have sent cease and desist letters to six companies using packaging that is almost identical to popular food brands. The concern is that unsuspecting consumers may accidentally ingest cannabis-infused products without realizing it. These agencies are working to protect both public safety and the reputation of non-drug brands. It’ll be interesting to see how this issue unfolds and if additional regulations are put in place to prevent misleading packaging in the future.
