Published on April 7, 2023

Just like economic inequality, social class disparities have a profound effect on society. It’s like comparing the distribution of wealth to the differences in social cognition. Addressing these differences is a priority across various aspects of life, from healthcare to academia. Interestingly, these disparities can be observed even before children start school, and it’s believed that variations in cognitive skills, such as working memory and executive functioning, play a role. But this research goes beyond just cognitive deficits. It explores how social class shapes social cognition. By understanding how social class influences the way people think about and respond to others, we can gain insights into the complexities of socioeconomic disparities and potentially develop targeted interventions to bridge these gaps.
