Lack of partisan bias in the identification of fake (versus real) news

We are pleased to see that Gawronski [1] did not take issue with our paper’s [2] central claims that cognitive reflection predicts truth discernment regardless of political concordance and that partisan differences do not necessarily imply motivated reasoning. Rather, the focus of his critique relates to what he takes to be the importance of partisan bias (or what we refer to descriptively as the ‘effect of political concordance’) in explaining the phenomenon of fake news.
